The Windmill is a pub in Brixton, South London. It’s a special place with a special ethos. It has been instrumental in providing a platform for bands like Fat White Family, Black Midi and Mica Levi. It has a flat roof, upon which a dog prowls, checking out the clientele. Hence the title of the book.
It’s a beautifully written little book, composed lovingly by the Times’ Will Hodgkinson and published by Rough Trade Books. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I recently reviewed it for Louder Than War. You can read that here.
